Episode 11: Hi Food, I’m Home! podcast
When I get home from work, I often get tempted to eat.
Many of my clients struggle with this time of day too. They want to relax, they think they deserve something.
But when we get home from work there’s also residual work stress from the day – especially from unfinished tasks.
And there’s potentially fatigue, which plays more of a role than you probably give credit.
I’m Laura Lloyd, food psychology coach, weight loss life coach, and a recovered binge eater.
And in this episode, we take an in-depth look at some of the common emotions we feel when we get home from work, and how to stop them becoming a reason to eat.
You’ll hear a snippet of me coming home, picking my kids up, and how the switch from brain-work to housework can be hard for many of us.
You’ll learn:
🥑 How to check in with your nervous system at the end of your work day.
🥑 Why half of the ‘tiredness’ we feel is brain drama.
🥑 Why introverts struggle particularly with this.
🥑 How to use the resources you ALREADY have to climb out of overwhelm;
🥑 How to identify anxiety, or stress.
PLUS
After the episode, you can listen to an audio meditation imagining coming home, but not eating.
Want to read something super helpful if you suffer from housework overwhelm when you get home from work?
Not all of us find housework a cinch.
How to Keep House While Drowning is a book by someone who figured out how to be infinitely compassionate towards herself about household jobs and do whatever it takes to make it fuctional…
…while having tiny babies, having had post-natal depression, and with a diagnosis of ADHD.
I think I’ll be forever grateful to KC Davis for writing it.
The audiobook has had a huge influence on me, lifted me from the internal moralising about mess and disorgansation, and given me a deeper comprehension of neuro-difference.
