Transcript of Hi Food, I'm Home podcast – trailer

Hello, I see you there, hard working woman! Yeah, you really go for it.

And we’re good during the day, while we were busy creating success contributing to the world – as we do as women, as working people, and then the moment we’re through the door, it’s like, “Hi food, I’m home!”.

And we’re standing in the pantry looking for answers feeling dog tired.

Feeling like we deserve some kind of reward.

Feeling dread, of the clearing up we’ve got to do, or maybe we’ve got more work to do because we didn’t finish everything, and our head still buzzing with our unfinished To-Do List.

Or, maybe we want to celebrate our work.

Maybe we’re just relieved to be free of responsibility, finally, we lived up to our expectations and everyone else’s expectations while we’re at work and we are just letting it drop. And having a bit of this and a bit of that.

For some of us doesn’t happen right away when we get home from work. Some of us it happens after dinner.

For some of us it is late night eating.

For some of us it arrives even sooner, if we’re working from home, sometimes food joins us at our desk for the afternoon to help us get through it.

And it’s taking up 80% of your headspace right now. The regret the shame; running around in circles with intending to do one thing and finding yourself doing another almost on autopilot like the food is controlling you, and at the end of it all you blame the food.

You’re like oh, I just can’t have this thing in my house and you you get rid of all the chocolate Hobnobs or whatever, and treat yourself like someone who is out of control.

Maybe you’re binge eating right now.

Perhaps you have got a shit tonne of weight you want to lose?

Maybe you’re just plagued by everyday self sabotage, and whatever is going on for you, I want you to know that nothing has gone wrong here.

You’re just, your brain is being a perfectly brilliant habit-forming human brain.

And the things that have made you successful at work are not the things that can make you successful in your relationship with your body and food.

So yeah, you might get an app, but it’s not sustainable. And scrolling through psychological tips is not psychology.

I’m Laura Lloyd. I’m a life coach. I’m a certified food psychology coach. I’m a recovering binge eater. I’m on a recovery journey with emotional overeating still, especially around work. And that’s why I have more awareness around the relationship between work and food than anyone else. I know because I’m wrestling with this bastard thing on the daily, and this podcast, Hi Food I’m Home, is – I warn you – gonna be a little bit different because I am a life coach, but I’m also my own certified brand of nuts over here.

And my understanding of our thoughts and feelings about work is giving me breakthrough after breakthrough in my relationship with food which is far from perfect, very much a work in progress. I don’t binge eat anymore. I don’t think I ever will do again and I don’t even – this is such a triumph: I don’t lick the knife every time I eat peanut butter my kids toast anymore, either.

There’s so much that I’ve developed in my relationship with food. And so you get to see me mess up. You get to see me wrestle. And my breakthrough is your next breakthrough.

Because you might feel very dispirited right now.

You’re telling yourself I’ve tried everything but it’s not true. You’ve tried immensely hard and I just I’m honouring your tenacity, of sticking with figuring out your relationship with food, your weight, your binge eating right now but you haven’t tried everything, Chickpea.

Nobody has taught you before how to unlearn your over eating.

Nobody has walked with you before, like a coach and as somebody who gets it from the inside. Another human, another woman.

We’re going to keep walking together until your overeating is understood.

So that you can contribute to the world in the way that you’re supposed to.

The world needs women to stop being entangled in their own bowl of psychological spaghetti!

So Hi Food, I’m Home! is launching on the 26th of October 2022. That’s a Wednesday, Wednesday the 26th.

And you know what you need to do now? You need to do what used to be called ‘subscribe’ to the podcast and now it’s called ‘following’ the podcast.

And if you’re not much of a podcast listener yet, you will discover that when you follow a podcast something really exciting happens. You get notified when new episodes come out.

That means when episode one drops, you will know about it. You get the little notifications, and each episode is gonna have a little bit of hypnotherapy at the end of it as well.

So you’re gonna feel so luxurious that you’ve committed yourself to spending 20 minutes every couple of weeks with yourself with your relationship with food.

And one last thing, you probably want to sign up to my newsletter because I’m looking forward to seeing you on the 26th and we’re going to do something extra exciting.

We’re going to have a little party and we’re also going to do a lot of giveaways. Yeah, there’s free shit people!
